Mind Your Language

How your language affects your world…

The words we use both externally and internally (in thoughts) have a profound effect on us, whether we are aware of it or not. For example, “I’m no good at that” Can all too easily become a self-fulfilling prophecy because your mind will believe whatever you tell it and often times we use the most disparaging comments when talking about ourselves.

Words shape our reality, our beliefs and, ultimately our world and the situations we attract.

If you want to ‘Rule Your World’ you first have to Rule Your Words!

“I’m no good at that”, could become instead, “Hmm it looks a tad tricky but I’ll give it a go, if everyone else can learn it, so can I, maybe I need to come at it from a different angle” … How much kinder would that be?

If we just have knee jerk reactions to situations and dismiss immediately our own potential by saying we are not clever enough, or good enough or able enough then there is no room for growth, no room for development and life becomes hard and stale.. a bit like a piece of old bread!

I remember years ago when I used to work in a Bank and my first manager was a right *Insert expletive of your choice* and I kept saying “He’s a pain in the neck”, “He’s doing my head in” “His way of working hurts my head, why does he make things so difficult for everyone?”… and guess what… a couple of months later, I pulled my shoulder and my head and neck did literally hurt…

Coincidence?... I don’t think so!

My subconscious mind had taken it all in and all the times I had said “He’s doing my head in”, and “What a pain in the neck he is”.. And life being the constant mirror that it is to our thoughts and beliefs was most generous and kindly gave me what I was ‘asking for’ …

There is so much evidence to show that the words we use really do affect our realty. If you haven’t already I encourage you to check out Dr Masaru Emoto and his work with water crystals, truly amazing…

He found that he could say words over water and depending on the words he used, different shaped crystals would form once the water was frozen. When prayers were said over the water, beautiful crystals in the water formed and when words like “ I hate you” were said over the water horrible shapes formed.

He came to the conclusion that if that could happen to water then what are we doing to ourselves when we say horrible things, after all, we are made up largely of water too!

You can find a lot of videos on You Tube about his work a real eye opener, and once you have seen the impact words can have, you’ll likely never say anything horrible about yourself again.

Here’s another nifty little trick with words…

The Questions you ask yourself are important too, because whatever you ask a question about, your mind will subconsciously go to work to find the answer.. So, Instead of asking questions like “Why can’t I learn X, Y and Z…?” Ask yourself instead, “Why is it that I’m so quick to learn X, Y and Z..? “ You’ll be amazed at the answers that come up for you.

Remember: Ask Empowering Questions and you’ll get Empowering Answers.

So, my challenge to you this week is to Mind Your Language…

Use only Empowering words when you talk about yourself, and others for that matter.. We are all in this together, so let’s lift each other up.

Till next time …
