Choices are the things you make every day, often unconsciously, often too quickly and often using the wrong criteria Eeeek!
So, how do you know if you’ve been making good choices?
If you’ve been making good choices it’s likely that you will love your life, everything will be as you want it and you will be heading in the right direction in most areas, such as work, love, finance, and friendships.
On the other hand, if you’ve been making bad/unconscious choices, or choices based on wrong criteria then it’s likely that you’ve gotten to a point in life were you feel unhappy, unmotivated and stuck.
What is wrong criteria?
Ok, well to explain wrong criteria, let me first explain right criteria. When you base your decisions on right criteria it means that you make choices according to your ‘Values’ in life. Values are the things in life that are important to you, the things you hold in high regard and what you feel good about. When you make choices based on your values, you are making a conscious choice to follow what feels good to you therefore your lives feel good too.
So, as you can see the opposite of this, making choices based on the wrong criteria would ultimately make your life feel bad, and we definitely don’t want that… Oh no sireee!
So what to do ..
We need to work out what are your Values are in life, what are the things that are important to you, what are the things that make you feel happy, in alignment and want to sing in the shower… (ok, maybe not sing in the shower, but you get the picture!) ..
Why do we need to do this,, because when you know what your values are, you can make your choices based on your values and not your emotions,.. emotions tend to flip flop about as the day goes on, and if you are in a bad or low mood in the morning it’s likely that you will make a decision based on your mood, whereas if you know your values, and you already know that following your values will lead you down a path of happiness… (or singing,.. couldn’t resist! …) making choices becomes a much simpler process, an easier process and it will help guide you in life.
Your values may change over time and that’s ok, as life moves on we have different priorities and different things become important to us, so it’s a good idea to review your values every now and then.
But for now, give yourself permission to take some time out from your busy schedule to just sit and work out what is important to you, what makes you happy and then list them in order of priority.
Once you have your top 10 Values, you can always reduce those down to your ultimate Top 5.. and then.. start making Great Choices.!
Till next time...
